The purpose of this chapter, in cooperation with the national UNA-USA office, is to build public understanding and support for the United Nations and to foster constructive US leadership to make the UN more effective.
In order to achieve this purpose, the chapter undertakes the following main activities in education and advocacy support:
a) Informing and educating the public about the UN system and the role it
plays in world affairs.
b) Developing a diverse constituency to support national UNA-USA
initiatives, including positive US leadership in promotion of the UN.
c) Taking an advocacy position on public policy issues related to the UN and
US-UN relations, and mobilizing the necessary action called for through
contacts with government officials and community leaders.
