Membership in UNA Sonoma County
United Nations Association of the U.S.A. Sonoma County Chapter is dedicated to the same values that led to the creation of the United Nations in 1945:
human rights for all people around the world,
reducing world poverty through programs of economic and social development,
finding peaceful resolutions of conflict instead of violence and war, and
protecting the world's environment
We are over 178 members in Sonoma County and growing. We are an all-volunteer low budget organization, with an active Board of Directors
Chapter Programs include:
Assistance to Model UN or international programs at high schools and colleges,
Special events such as International Women's Day in March,
UN Day International Film Festival in November,
Human Rights Day in December,
Community programs on Global Health, Peacekeeping, East Timor, Tibet, etc., and
Advocacy and public outreach on behalf of the UN and humanitarian issues.
Our Chapter Newsletter, written and edited by our chapter leaders Membership in UNA-USA involves no time commitment. Some lead, others attend events that interest them, many join simply to become part of the national constituency for positive US leadership in world affairs and at the United Nations.
